SUSTAINABILITY

Our Mission

Since 2019, we’ve been on a mission to brew the best 0.5% ABV craft beers and build a better world in which to drink them!

How we’re building a better world

“Drop Bear is leading the way for more sustainable practices in alcohol-free brewing.”

We’re carbon neutral!

Our business and entire range of beers are carbon neutral. We started by partnering up with the experts at Climate Partner to measure the carbon footprint of our beers and company.

What did we measure?

In partnership with the experts at Climate Partner, we comprehensively measured scopes 1, 2, and 3 which include things such as offices, employee commuting, brewing, ingredients, packaging, transport, end of life etc. We measured these scopes from day one of Drop Bear way back in 2019…it’s fair to say it took a bit of time! Calculating our carbon emissions means that we’re able to, as a first step, offset them as well as know where I can make the most impactful changes to reduce our environmental footprint.

Offsetting Projects

We’re achieving carbon neutrality through supporting a VCS-certified carbon offset project: Clean wind energy with various social benefits for Brazilian communities This carbon offset project comprises the implantation and operation of 14 wind power plants in the states of Piauí and Pernambuco in the northeast of Brazil. The clean and renewable electricity delivered to Brazilian Interconnected System by the project provides an important contribution to environmental sustainability by reducing carbon dioxide emissions that otherwise would have occurred in the absence of the project, through fossil fuel-based electricity generation. The relevant socioeconomic and environmental co-benefits of this project are also listed to reflect the important actions that are been implemented alongside with the energy generation. The project’s specific focus on the necessities of the local communities through collective construction helps to transform realities and collaborate to a legacy in the territory generating shared value for the stakeholders. How does wind energy help fight global warming? Since wind energy is created without burning fossil fuels, it is considered emission-free. The growth of renewable energy production is essential to limiting global warming and securing energy supplies for the future. The amount of emissions saved by a wind power project is calculated using the baseline method: how much CO2 would be released by generating the same amount of energy using standard energy production methods for the region? The second phase is where we can make the biggest difference, by lowering our emissions as much as possible throughout our business and supply chain. The largest contributor to the carbon footprint generated by our beers is ***. Our attention is now focused on***. So, we’ll keep offsetting what we produce to minimise our impact on the planet, whilst in the background we continue to work hard to actively reduce our emissions across every touch point of our business.

Electric Fleet

Drop Bear is powered by electric vehicles! When appropriate, we provide the team with an electric vehicle to actively reduce the environmental impact of them travelling to or for work.

When providing a company car is not appropriate, we provide access to the Drop Bear Green Travel Grant which incentivises team members to use public transport or acts as a contribution towards their personal purchase of an electric car.

"We're working hard to make a positive impact on this world with every can brewed!"
